Accounting Sync — Proposed Guide

Overview
A future synchronization design would coordinate mappings and approved source records with an accounting provider. Preparing a record, sending it and receiving a posting acknowledgment are separate stages.
Key concepts
Persist an external reference and an operation key for each attempted transfer. Resolve update ownership explicitly.
Implementation considerations
No provider connection or background sync exists. Repeated delivery must not create duplicate ledger entries.
Illustrative data model
This local fixture shows a possible representation for the concepts above. It is not an endpoint response, production configuration or a claim that the described capability is implemented.

}Design review checklist
- Document which organization owns the accounting sync representation and which actor may view or change it.
- Test the boundaries of sync id, external id, expense id, status, mapping version using synthetic values, including missing or inconsistent references.
- Before future implementation, obtain an approved contract and review failure behavior. This documentation does not authorize production activation.
Proposed data types
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| sync_id | string | Stable fictional sync reference; not a secret and not evidence that a resource exists. |
| external_id | string | Fictional source/provider correlation value, not a credential or proof of synchronization. |
| expense_id | string | Stable fictional expense reference; not a secret and not evidence that a resource exists. |
| status | string | Proposed lifecycle value. Its meaning depends on the resource and must not be inferred from HTTP success. |
| mapping_version | integer | Revision of the source-to-target field transformation used for this representation. |
