Reimbursement Events — Proposed Guide

Overview

Reimbursement events could distinguish eligibility, attempted processing, settlement evidence and returns. A processing event must not be interpreted as an instruction to issue another payment.

Key concepts

Include reimbursement and attempt references. Preserve a provider outcome through an authorized non-secret reference.

Implementation considerations

Duplicate events must not create duplicate repayments. Every settlement-related fixture is synthetic and causes no financial action.

Illustrative data model

This local fixture shows a possible representation for the concepts above. It is not an endpoint response, production configuration or a claim that the described capability is implemented.

Design review checklist

  • Document which organization owns the reimbursement events representation and which actor may view or change it.
  • Test the boundaries of event id, reimbursement id, attempt id, status using synthetic values, including missing or inconsistent references.
  • Before future implementation, obtain an approved contract and review failure behavior. This documentation does not authorize production activation.
