List Allowances — Proposed Guide

Overview
A collection would show authorized allowance definitions or employee allocations within a selected period. Different allowance types should remain identifiable.
Key concepts
Filter by employee, period and lifecycle state. Keep cursor traversal within the original scope.
Implementation considerations
Do not add allocations from overlapping periods as one available balance. The contract must define whether rows are policies or individual assignments.
Proposed API behavior
GET /v1/allowances is an illustrative design for this topic. Path and field names may change before implementation. Access would require an authorized organization context and operation-specific permission; no public API or authorization grant is available here.
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| user_id | string | Stable fictional user reference; not a secret and not evidence that a resource exists. |
| period_id | string | Stable fictional period reference; not a secret and not evidence that a resource exists. |
| status | string | Proposed lifecycle value. Its meaning depends on the resource and must not be inferred from HTTP success. |
| limit | integer | Requested collection size. This example is not a promised service limit. |
| cursor | string | Opaque fictional continuation value; retain the original filters when following it. |

Review this failure case in context: Do not add allocations from overlapping periods as one available balance. The contract must define whether rows are policies or individual assignments.
Synthetic diagnostic example. Human-readable messages must not be used as stable programmatic contracts.
