Webhook Architecture — Proposed Guide

Overview

An event architecture would record a business fact before attempting delivery to registered consumers. Delivery progress should not alter the underlying financial resource state.

Key concepts

Separate event creation, subscription matching and delivery attempts. Version the event schema independently of individual attempts.

Implementation considerations

No event bus, queue or worker is implemented. Future design must specify retention, replay authorization and consistency boundaries.

Illustrative data model

This local fixture shows a possible representation for the concepts above. It is not an endpoint response, production configuration or a claim that the described capability is implemented.

Design review checklist

  • Document which organization owns the webhook architecture representation and which actor may view or change it.
  • Test the boundaries of event id, schema version, subscription id, delivery id using synthetic values, including missing or inconsistent references.
  • Before future implementation, obtain an approved contract and review failure behavior. This documentation does not authorize production activation.
