Synchronizing Accounting Data — Proposed Guide
Planned API — Reference OnlySynchronizing Accounting Data: Accounting synchronization should move only approved, mapped source representations into a confirmed target workflow.…
Overview
Accounting synchronization should move only approved, mapped source representations into a confirmed target workflow. Sending a record and observing a posting acknowledgment are separate stages.
Key concepts
Test entity mappings, period closure and duplicate external references. Retain source and mapping versions.
Implementation considerations
No ledger access occurs. An ambiguous provider outcome must be reconciled before replaying a potentially duplicative posting request.
Illustrative data model
This local fixture shows a possible representation for the concepts above. It is not an endpoint response, production configuration or a claim that the described capability is implemented.

}Design review checklist
- Document which organization owns the synchronizing accounting data representation and which actor may view or change it.
- Test the boundaries of expense id, account id, mapping version, external id using synthetic values, including missing or inconsistent references.
- Before future implementation, obtain an approved contract and review failure behavior. This documentation does not authorize production activation.
Proposed data types
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| expense_id | string | Stable fictional expense reference; not a secret and not evidence that a resource exists. |
| account_id | string | Stable fictional account reference; not a secret and not evidence that a resource exists. |
| mapping_version | integer | Revision of the source-to-target field transformation used for this representation. |
| external_id | string | Fictional source/provider correlation value, not a credential or proof of synchronization. |
