Overview
A response viewer would help inspect structured fixtures, envelopes and error details. It should make HTTP outcome and business-resource state visually distinct.
Key concepts
Display currency with amount units, preserve null values and explain collection metadata. Do not hide unknown fields by default.
Implementation considerations
No response is retrieved from a live API. A fictional approved status in a fixture is not an actual approval or financial result.
Illustrative data model
This local fixture shows a possible representation for the concepts above. It is not an endpoint response, production configuration or a claim that the described capability is implemented.
JSON fixture
{
"reference_only": true,
"topic": "API Response Viewer",
"fixture_id": "fixture_example_123",
"status": "draft",
"request_id": "request_example_123",
"error_code": "validation_error"
}Design review checklist
- Document which organization owns the api response viewer representation and which actor may view or change it.
- Test the boundaries of fixture id, status, request id, error code using synthetic values, including missing or inconsistent references.
- Before future implementation, obtain an approved contract and review failure behavior. This documentation does not authorize production activation.
Proposed data types
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| fixture_id | string | Stable fictional fixture reference; not a secret and not evidence that a resource exists. |
| status | string | Proposed lifecycle value. Its meaning depends on the resource and must not be inferred from HTTP success. |
| request_id | string | Stable fictional request reference; not a secret and not evidence that a resource exists. |
| error_code | string | Illustrative machine-readable error classification; final codes remain undecided. |
