Overview
Expense reconciliation would compare a source cost with accounting and evidence records. A matching merchant name alone is insufficient to reconcile a financial amount.
Key concepts
Compare amount, currency, entity, date and source identifiers. Preserve discrepancies as structured exceptions.
Implementation considerations
Separate matching suggestions from an authorized reconciled outcome. A corrected expense may require reconciliation against a new version.
Illustrative data model
This local fixture shows a possible representation for the concepts above. It is not an endpoint response, production configuration or a claim that the described capability is implemented.

}Design review checklist
- Document which organization owns the expense reconciliation representation and which actor may view or change it.
- Test the boundaries of expense id, accounting record id, reconciliation status, version using synthetic values, including missing or inconsistent references.
- Before future implementation, obtain an approved contract and review failure behavior. This documentation does not authorize production activation.
